SFRRC Club Ambassadors

Our Club Ambassadors have established themselves as gracious advocates of our sport and club through their running knowledge (of races, training, and more), good spirit, generosity of time, and leadership. They are here to guide, encourage, invite others to join us, and help spread the SFRRC love. Our Ambassador team brings:

  • Comfort for new/perspective members or visiting runners. At our Saturday runs, our ambassadors help guests and new members find the right pace group and answer questions. Look for the people holding the "New? Talk to me!" signs.
  • Presence at club events, races, and runs around the world! Though EVERYONE is encouraged to wear SFRRC clothing for races and on your travels. :)
  • Encouragement to others by offering a listening ear and sharing insights about our club and resources available to members to help meet their running goals.

Meet Our Ambassadors

MILO SPRAGUE  |  DIRECTOR OF AMBASSADORS

Milo leads our SFRRC Ambassador Team. He is a Bay Area native and a SF Lowell High School graduate but lived much of his life in other places including Boston, New York, Southern California, and Japan. Milo ran three marathons about sixteen years ago and then “retired” to casual jogging with his Goldendoodle Ruby. Since joining the Club in November 2018, Milo has now run eight more marathons, dropped his PR by 63 minutes, and run Boson twice. He attributes all his success and love of running to the great coaching, world-class athletes, amazing community, and the general positive fun-loving esprit de corps of the club. Milo remains excited to keep learning and sharing key running strategies from the amazing group of generous and supportive club members he sees weekly. Milo also loves trail running and has spent lots of time with the Club in the Marin hills. Ask him about favorite running locations, marathon training, trail runs, and all the fun social aspects of the Club! Go SFFRC!

Steph_Abe.jpg

STEPH ABE

Steph started running her junior year of high school. She was not a star, and she didn't care to be. She joined the track team because she was experiencing difficult family circumstances and needed a supportive outlet. From the benefits of moving her body and the feelings of achievement every time she ran just a little further or faster. From the wonderful friends she made and the joy that came from consistent exposure to nature, Steph found that taking up running for fun and being on a team brought her a myriad of overall wellbeing-promoting benefits. Fast forward to now, Steph joined SFRRC for that exact reason! Running totally alone sure is wellbeing-promoting, but running in an awesome community is even more so. She loves how her fellow SFRRC members who sway to the more competitive side are kind, welcoming, fun, and inclusive. She feels the culture of this club is very special, and she warmly welcomes you to join in on the fun!

Alfonso_Brigham.jpg

ALFONSO BRIGHAM

Alfonso joined SFRRC in 2017 to train for his first marathon in New York City. After joining the club Alfonso realized that it’s more fun, more exciting, and more efficient to run in our gorgeous city by the bay with running friends than alone. We are better together.

Since then, Alfonso has run dozens of races from 10Ks to 15Ks to half marathons and marathons. Saturday early mornings, track Tuesdays, and Thursday runs are the highlights of his week. Alfonso finds incredible fulfillment in the camaraderie of SFRRC… being surrounded by so much positive energy, friendly people, and an inclusive community that welcomes all runners, no matter how fast or slow, experienced, or inexperienced, competitive, or non-competitive. Please come join us at SFRRC! The people, community and club are the welcoming, fun, and friendly!

Alisa_Brozinsky.jpg

ALISA YUKO BROZINSKY

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Alisa has been a member of SFRRC since 2018!  She has been passionately involved with the Club as a runner, volunteer, and the recent past Director of Social Media/Marketing on the Board. Alisa's love of running began when she was a sprinter in middle and high school. She didn't try distance running until much later and completed her first half marathon shortly after moving to San Francisco. She has since been hooked and has completed 7 marathons, 39 additional half marathons, and a host of other distance races.

What Alisa loves about SFRRC is the runner camaraderie along with the variety of club runs and fun events. Always inspired by her fellow run buddies, she is truly appreciative of the Club's wonderful volunteer leaders. When asked why she loves the sport, she will tell you that it makes her feel connected and alive. As a soon-to-be 25-year cancer survivor, to her, running represents health, vitality, and most of all, gratitude. As part of our 2024 Ambassador Team, she is excited to share her passion for both the sport and the Club with the running community!

CAMYLL HARAJI

Camyll joined SFRRC two years ago. She immediately got focused on her BQ Goal, which she trained for and completed at CIM with the support of her fellow Club members. Since then, she’s become increasingly interested in trail running and loves running on the Marin trails. Her newest passion is running scenic races.

Abhishek_Kapatk.jpg
ABHISHEK KAPATK

Abhishek joined SFRRC in 2020 to get into long-distance running, explore the Bay Area trails, and be part of the fantastic running community. He is also an avid cyclist and helps lead cross-training bike rides. He loves being outdoors and enjoys group runs, rides, and cafe hangouts afterward. His favorite place to run in San Francisco is the Presidio. Outside of endurance sports, he cares deeply about using his skills and time for social good and is involved in several projects helping non-profits and underserved communities.

MELANIE KUMOVE

Melanie is a longtime runner but became more dedicated to marathon training in late 2021. Historically a solo runner, she joined SFRRC when she was training for the SF Marathon and was hooked after the first Saturday run with the 8:30 crew. She loves the camaraderie and stories shared on Saturday long runs, as well as getting speedy at Track Tuesdays. Mel grew up in Hawaii but has lived in SF since 2014. Outside of running, you’ll find her seeking a pastry while exploring the city, trying a new restaurant, or traveling to the nearest beach!
Kevin_Li.jpg
KEVIN LI

A San Francisco native, Kevin took up running during his university days, primarily for its psychological benefits and sense of community. He joined SFRRC in 2023 and found the Club to be a friendly and supportive community, and he trained for his first marathon with the Club. Since the beginning of his running journey, Kevin has dreamed of completing the Comrades Marathon in South Africa one day, though he questions whether he will ever be brave enough to attempt it. When not running, Kevin can be found on his couch binge-watching Gordon Ramsay shows. In addition to being an SFRRC Ambassador, Kevin occasionally leads the 10 min/mile pace group during the Saturday club runs.

Norma_Magallon.jpg

NORMA MORENO

Meet Norma, a Bay Area native with over two decades of experience conquering local trail and road races across the Bay. Norma's journey into running began as a solitary pursuit, driven by a passion for pushing her limits and exploring the beauty of her surroundings. However, in 2012, she suddenly found herself dreading training for a marathon alone. That's when she discovered SFRRC, a community that would forever change her perspective on running. Since joining SFRRC, Norma has thrived in the camaraderie and support of her fellow runners. What started as a solo endeavor has blossomed into a joyous communal experience, filled with miles of smiles and laughter. Through her journey, Norma has come to realize that running is about much more than crossing finish lines—it's about embracing the process and relishing every step of the way. She values the training process as much as, if not more than, race day itself, cherishing the conversations, shared moments, and bonds formed during long runs. As Norma continues to pursue her running goals, she invites others to join her and her SFRRC friends on this incredible journey. Together, they strive to support one another, push boundaries, and create lasting memories that transcend the miles. Join Norma and experience the transformative power of running, where every stride is an opportunity for growth, connection, and joy.

NOELLE NAREZ

Noelle joined SFRRC in June 2021 with some of her friends from Run365. She loves the Club’s friendly community. Since joining the Club, she trained for and ran her first marathon with SFRRC (CIM) and is planning to run more. Noelle has been running since Junior High where she specialized in the 400-meter race and was on the 400-relay team. Since then, she has run over 35 half marathons and counting. She loves reading any book by Matt Fitzgerald and memorized his two books on nutrition and loves to help people with their fitness goals, including her family, friends, and co-workers. Noelle loves going to concerts and karaoke and taking classes at Barry's Bootcamp (she has taken over 250 classes) and yoga classes at the UCSF gym. Noelle's favorite places to run are California Street, East Beach Trail, and the trails in Marin. Her favorite things about SFRRC are the friendly members, getting advice on anything running-related, and catching up with everyone at the Saturday runs, Track Tuesdays, and Sunday Trails. She likes that SFRRC is inclusive and welcoming to everyone no matter how fast or slow they are.

Kate_Reid.png

KATE REID

A lifelong runner, Kate joined SFRRC when training for her first marathon after almost 30 years of shorter races. Kate’s a proud Colorado native (go altitude training!) who moved to SF in 2012 after years living in Tokyo, London, Mexico City, and Washington, DC. In SFRRC she has found a warm, friendly, supportive community and has seen her mile times drop when getting back on the track for the first time since college. Her favorite parts of the Club are getting hang with the members, speed work on Tuesdays, races with a team, and any excuse to party. She believes Run Clubs today are like night clubs of yesterday—so come out and get down!

Wendy_Reyes.jpg

WENDY REYES

Wendy is Dominican by birth, Canadian by choice, and San Franciscan by heart. She joined SFRRC in July 2021 when she moved to San Francisco and right then she felt the incredible support and kindness that the club offers to everyone. In the beginning, running was challenging, demanding, and not very fun for her, but she persevered and so far, she has completed 17 marathons, including the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors - New York City and Tokyo marathons are her favorites! She also enjoys practicing Vinyasa and hot yoga, talking to her two daughters and parents almost daily, and aiming to live a good life with her sweetheart Jaime.

Rylee_Schwee.jpg
RYLEE SCHWEE

Rylee has been a member of SFRRC since 2021. She moved to the Bay Area from Maryland and quickly fell in love with the running community in San Francisco! Rylee began ultra-running at 16 on rugged east coast trails. She most values the people she meets while running and hearing their experiences. Running has invited Rylee to push her limits all the way up to 100-mile distances. She is excited to meet new members of SFRRC and continue to grow the running community! More run, More fun!
Rick_Takeuchi.png

RICK TAKEUCHI

As a Bay Area native, Rick discovered his interest in running due to his prowess as the top 800m/miler in his grade and his soccer background. Throughout high school, he did cross country and track, earning medals from local meets and races. After a long hiatus from running, Rick reignited his love for the sport in 2022 when he joined Midnight Runners, finding a community of friends in the City. This led Rick to join SFRRC in 2023. Despite preferring shorter distances, Rick pushed his limits and completed a marathon with inspiration from the SFRRC community and his idols Caitlyn Miller and David Goggins. After joining the Club, Rick realized the importance of building a community of like-minded people who enjoy running in his gorgeous city. Since then, Rick has achieved remarkable feats, including finishing the Chicago Marathon in under 3:20 and completing four half marathons in 2023. He enjoys Saturday long runs, creating deep friendships with runners in the 8:30 pace group and intervals on Track Tuesday. He finds fulfillment in the camaraderie of SFRRC's positive and inclusive community that supports all runners regardless of ability or experience. Apart from running, Rick enjoys traveling, dancing, reading, and backpacking. Now, he is grinding his soul and heart to break a sub-3 barrier and qualify for the Boston Marathon as his long-term goal. STAY HARD!

Jaime has been working in biotech sales for the last 26 years. He cares a lot about the ill and vulnerable, especially children. He has two beautiful daughters: Nicole and Amelia, and he’s married to Wendy who is also an SFRRC Ambassador.

Mia_Varner_Ambassador.jpg

MIA VARNER

A born and raised Floridian, Mia has been running most of her life thanks to her marathoner mother (and built-in coach). She started running cross country in elementary school and ran throughout high school, but she stopped running completely in college to focus on other endeavors. After she moved to San Francisco for an internship in 2022, her supervisor suggested she join a run club to make friends and get back into the sport, leading Mia to SFRRC which she joined in January 2023. Thanks to encouragement from Club members, Mia began training for her very first half marathon, the SF Marathon (first half). She is focused on the half marathon distance, but she plans to step up and train for a marathon, mostly so that people stop asking. She hopes to add more races to her roster, all with the support and camaraderie of the Club!
