Annual 2-Mile Time Trial

It's time for our annual 2-mile time trail on Tuesday at Kezar Stadium.

Looks like the weather may be nice.

Based upon your finish time (whether 12 minutes or 23 minutes, etc.), we will learn your most optimal pacing for Easy runs and (track or tempo) workouts. And we'll also pretty accurately be able to determine what your marathon or half-marathon time would be, as your 2-mile time trial sets a VDOT number for you. This will help significantly with your pacing in a race.

TIME TRIAL (and RACING) TIP: Physiologically we can run best/fastest when we run even or negative splits. Practice this on Tuesday. If you're not sure of what time you might be capable of, start slowly and pick it up during the time trial. Then, when your big race (for example: 5K or half or full-marathon) comes you will be more prepared and know you can do it.
ADDITIONAL TIP: Sprint as fast as you can at the finish.


Don't be scared of the track or speed, come join us! We will meet ON the track at Kezar just inside the west gate at 6:30pm. We will begin with an easy warm-up then come back to the track for a few light drills. Then you'll have some minutes to rest, change out of your heavy/warm clothes, etc. The time trial will begin around 7:15pm.

We will follow-up with an individual email to each of you on this.

In addition to helping us learn our proper training paces for our regular runs and workouts (at track, for example), the time trial is a great tempo/threshold workout that will make you a better/stronger runner. After our time trial, we strengthen our core with planks.
